But these nickels do a lot of good. Money from the assessment is used for education, research, and promotional materials and activities to help the Maryland equine industry. The board has used a portion of the funding to provide small grants to such organizations as 4-H clubs, riding schools and local colleges.
You may request reimbursement of the assessment that is paid on processed equine feed you bought in Maryland. Reimbursement requests, along with receipts, must be submitted to the Maryland Horse Industry Board no more than 120 days from the date the feed was purchased. You can get reimbursement forms from:
